... and then this started to happen... sweet power!

About almost a year ago something quite unique started to happen... hearts and hearts, lots of hearts would magically manifest themselves as I cut into strawberries, melons, radishes, picked up random bread crumbs from my dehydrator, random dehydrated onions... I started seeing them on the leaves on the ground as I would go into the forest, even on the rocks I dag out last week as I prepped the beds of the Mandala Gardens.... and yes yes I know, we choose to see what we want to see, but it happens so often (almost daily now) that I can't help to think that there is magic at work, or at least a message to be recognized.  Even my kids see it now! they come running to me- mom! mom! I found love!, would you believe they used to roll their eyes at me.. not just once but twice!, hand motion and all, every time I said- Hey! look at what came up! ya.. ya... ya..

Truth is in the eye of the beholder.  I believe it.  We choose to see what we want to see.  In my case, my truth is Love.  I choose to see love and I choose to let it infuse my life in every way it knows how! I thank deeply every soul love note that comes my way, as they bring joy and warmth and certainty of being on the right path for me, as the work in progress health journey that I am on.  I think the important words here are 'I choose', I choose to align myself with love, with peace, with gratitude.  'I choose' brings whatever it is 'I want' into my life, it is a process of alignment, it is not to say it will be a simple jolly journey, it might, but most likely, it will be an infusion of our jolly shadow with the jolly rawllygood days we all aspire.  'Wanting something' makes it feel far away in the future, an ever disappearing reality.  'Choosing it', makes it present, it is now a part of my life, even if at times, it seems difficult.  I will act differently knowing my choice and my deeper sense of commitment to that choice.  New habits, new thoughts, new emotions will align themselves through me according to my choices.  Committing to our choices elevates our actions and brings forth the fruits of our new chosen daily habits, thoughts, and actions.  Be inspired by your commitment, and accept the deep nourishment that comes along with it.  Challenges will arise and take us to new levels, we will continue to meet and greet our shadow self, at times not very jolly, but instead of having a head first battle, we just might embrace the challenge with an open heart, shed our tears, and release it from our core, moving on, moving on, until the next time.

When a soul love note comes your way, share it, pass it on, soon those around you may be receiving them too!

I decided to share my soul love notes with my friend Chong and this is what came back my way!  Chong is a multi-disciplined artist working and experimenting with different materials and processes in woodworking, photography, and printmaking.  Very very talented. His work can be seen at http://www.lignoandlux.ca.

Soul Love Note from the Rawllygood Kitchen

My grandmother used to make the best desserts, well, she was queen of her Kitchen, she used to make the best of everything! an interesting mix of eastern european cuisine meets south america, she stayed true to her roots and always delighted us with goodness. She used to make these, baked of course, and I have been craving them, perhaps craving her presence.  So in her honour, I have made a raw version of her recipe. Mmmh, so rawllygood!

Ginger Poppyseed Almond Cookies Recipe
2 cups of raw almonds, soaked
1 cup of chopped pitted dates, or if you don't do well with sugar substitute it for Lakanto or birch derived Xylitol, or stevia.
1/4 cup fresh orange juice
3 tbsp of honey, or more Lakanto, birch derived Xylitol, or stevia
4 tbsp of chopped fresh ginger
3 tbsp poppyseeds, soaked for 15min (activate their powers!)
1/2 tsp of allspice, or your very own masala. I like using my Nala Masala.
pinch sea salt

Start by soaking the almonds overnight, the poppy seeds just need 15 minutes or so, so soak them as you start this recipe and they will be ready to add on at the end.  First, place the soaked almonds in the food processor, and process until you have the consistency of flour.  Add the rest of the ingredients until a dough ball forms, you might have to do it in two batches. Once it is all mixed up, get a tablespoon and scoop a tbsp of mixture onto a non-stick dehydrator sheet, gently press down to make the cookies or make a dough and use your cut out shapes.  Have fun with it!.

Dehydrate for 1 hour at 145F, then 5 hr at 105F until firm enough to turn over.  Then turn onto mesh sheets and dehydrate for 4 more hrs at 105F or until desired consistency has been reached.

Things are changing around here....for the better! New Video Series: The Power of Restorative Farming!

Things are changing around here... for the better! As we continue to grow and listen within the silence of the practice, it has become very clear to me that the Rawllygood blog is a part of something bigger.  It has become clear to me that it is important to share my journey of realignment to nature and of body, mind and spirit with you.  Sharing all the tools I have used, and continue to use as part of my daily practice, lifestyle and healthier habits.  As well, it has become clear to me to be of service to others along their journey of realignment.  It is through this process of clarity that The Realign Ranch has been born.  The Realign Ranch will be a centre that supports the journey of realignment of body, mind and soul through a variety of workshops such as yoga, meditation, raw food nutrition classes, creative expression, permaculture & edible gardens.  Its mission is to be of service through the process of self-transformation that leads to spiritual growth, self realization and freedom.

Through the process of becoming The Realign Ranch, I will be doing a series of video explorations on the theme The Power Of.... , part of the process of realignment is to take full responsibility for our actions, for their consequences and for the power that is within both of them.  The video series The Power of.. will explore the power of alignment with nature, alignment of body, mind, soul through many practices that have been helpful on my journey.  As well, it will be an exploration of our Power as global citizens to affect change.  Every action and habit that we have either builds our road to optimal health and spiritual liberation or builds our road to decay and disease on a personal level and a global level.  Each one of our actions contributes to the health and ecology of our communities and the planet.  So its time to act locally and think globally, for our own health and the health and future of humanity and the earth.  The Power of.. will explore themes such as Restorative Farming, mindfulness, yoga practices, meditation, permaculture, ayurvedic traditions, raw foods, creative expressions and on and on I could go.... I think you get the point.... So come along the journey of self-discovery and exploration of the tools and practices that bring us back in touch with our true self, with liberation and freedom.

Today we begin, perhaps with baby steps, this new journey of self empowerment. I welcome you to join me and Phil Collins as we discuss The Power of Restorative Farming.   Phil Collins is the owner of Foggy River Farms and co-founder of Fresh City Farms, and I will be teaching our June 8th workshop Homesteading for Raw Nutrition along with him, here at the Realign Ranch.

Restorative Farming is based on the principles of permaculture as organic living systems that serve to to restore the land-not just sustain it, restore our bodies-phisically, mentally, our consciousness, our communities-by gathering and sharing the experience of growing food.

Sit back and enjoy the ride...

The best gift ever!!!! on the road less travelled & Happy Valentines Day!

As a mother of 3, I sing my song and dance my dance, in hopes that my journey may inspire and have an effect on my children and the choices they will make in their lives.  But truth is we just don't know.  We, or should I say, I don't know what really trickles down.  I know some things do. I know it in how I  see them making their choices, and the questions they ask me, particularly with foods, health, honouring your truth, and walking lightly on this planet yet leaving an imprint of your soul along the way.  But with the world moving ever so fast, with the constant pull between community and friends, and home lifestyles, or just simple being 10, 8, and 4 and almost 40. There is a difference in how we see the world.  There is a difference in how we engage with the world.  Yet there can also be a lot of similarities, a lot of support and companionship along the road less travelled.

A few days ago I received the best gift ever!, I was joyfully asked for a favourite green juice! my specialty of course!

I must admit, I felt such honour, warmth in my heart and  joy when my middle son Theo, after finishing his homework, asked me: mom! can you make me my favourite juice? to what I replied, which one? my favourite GREEN juice, of course!  well well…. yaaaaaaa

Of course I can! and then more voices echoed in the back .. me toooo!….. me toooo!

I am often making them, often offering them…. sometimes my fresh juices are greeted with joy, sometimes with ahhh!, sometimes with not now.. sometimes with no way!… so it was such a gift to receive the asking of what I think is one of the most important tools for health and longevity in today's world….. green juice!

Sometimes the road less travelled is a lonely road, an awkward road, a different road.. but as the world becomes one, as we open our doors of perception, and the doors to our hearts, we see there are many walking beside us, quietly gathered, moving towards an awakening in consciousness.

Our generation is opening the door to higher levels of health and awareness of spirit.. frankly we got tired of feeling sick and reached out for other possibilities where life is radiant, where life bursts our hearts open into the magnitude and alchemy of this universe.  It is our job, more so our duty, to raise our kids with the empowered awareness that health is our innate state of being, that what we put in equals the state of our health - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, that we are here to grow, to nourish, to be of service, to be in alignment with our own dharma, and our own purpose.  It is our duty to kindle the light within and allow them to shine bright.

So as I give back gift to such honours… and because today is Valentines Day, along with a mighty green homemade juice… we are feeling the love of raw cacao in our hearts…. there are many good, and great ways to celebrate love, raw cacao chocolate is one of my favourites.

Raw Cacao comes from the Theobroma Cacao tree…. (something my Theo can't get over!)… It is referred to as 'food of the Gods'.  It is magic and alchemy.  It is a powerful way to get goodness into us.    It is healing medicine and can be used as a tool to get herbs, medicinal mushrooms, roots, & super foods into the best tasting way one can only offer the Gods that live within us!  So lets roll the drum and scroll down the benefits of this mighty nut:

  • It is high in antioxidants, helping us deal with free-radicals and stress.
  • It is high in magnesium, which supports the heart, increases brainpower, relaxes menstrual cramping and muscles, increases flexibility, helps build strong bones, and increases alkalinity. note- our bodies need magnesium in order to absorb calcium.
  • Contains high levels of Iron, Chromium, Manganese, Zinc, copper, Vitamin C
  • Raw Cacao contains essential Omega 6- Fatty Acids. (note- in cooked & processed Cacao these become rancid)
  • And on and on…

So here is a easy basic recipe for Raw Cacao Theobroma Magic, I am giving you a basic recipe, where your inspiration can take into great goodness heights….

1 cup of Raw Cacao Butter,  cut into small chunks.
1 cup of Raw Cacao powder
1 tsp of Maca powder
2-4 TBPS of raw honey, maple syrup, or Xylotol
pinch of salt (what? - yes, salt makes sweet food taste sweeter.)

In a pot, on LOW heat, melt the Cacao Butter.  Once melted, take off the stove.  Add raw cacao powder, macs, sweetener of choice, salt.  Mix it up.

Have your chocolate moulds ready, pour chocolate into moulds, freeze for 30 min. and enjoy!

This chocolate is best kept in the freezer until serving, it literally melts in your mouth with goodness!

You can add any superfood to this recipe, substitute maca for spiruina, chlorella, etc.  Add bee pollen, add goji berries… your imagination is the limit.

Enjoy & Happy Valentines…
May you lead your life always in joy & love.

Receiving the gifts of Alignment. What do Juice Fasting and Meditation have to do with each other?

As the door into new and magical sacred lands open up, I find myself spontaneously Juice Fasting to cleanse, to rebuild, to tap into my own sacredness, to stay deeply connected, to allow new insights into my consciousness and ground my feet deep beneath the Earth as I go along for the ride, to deeply nourish myself in times of transition and to tap into the essence of my nourishment. I am on day 6, but this time I am doing a Liquid fast, not just a Juice fast in that I am including smoothies, nut milks and raw soups into my fast. It just feels so right.  Fasting is a way to align ourselves with our true self.  It is a way to increase our Prana, our life-force.  It is a way to connect more deeply, to allow the silence within to become the humming vibration that guides my being.  I also mediate for longer when I fast.  They seem to go together, and they seem to enhance in synergy the positive effects they both have on the body, mind, emotions and spirit.  I am not sure how long this fast will last, I am deeply listening.

Fasting is considered a detoxification tool along our journey, but as we detoxify and let go of what we no longer need in many and all levels of our existence, we also create room for rebuilding our new selfs.  As we fast we allow our bodies to balance and realign themselves with our natural rhythms.  In the Science of Ayurveda these rhythms are of ultimate importance in our journey to balance and optimal health.  These rhythms govern every process in our bodies.  Think about it for a second, the beating of our hearts has its own rhythm, our breathing has its own rhythm.  From the rhythm of each and every cell process, to the patterns and rhythms of our days, rhythm is everywhere, inside and out!

In Ayurveda, the more we are in alignment with our own bodily rhythms and with the rhythms of the Macrocosm, the more we will experience radiant optimal health.  It reads so easy, doesn't it?, yet its a process to do, to stay in tune with your self and the rhythms that surround us as to stay open for the gifts of alignment to shine in.

As 2014 moves along, and we find ourselves, day in and day out, in our routines and daily habits, doing something like a Juice or Liquid Fast, breaks the rhythm of routines & habits, for better or for worse, it breaks down the wall of delusion, it allows our soul to shine a mirror to our ego, it allows us to think and question, allows us to quiet our self, our minds, our hearts, and our bodies so we can then establish new or re-establish old rhyhtms that serve us better.  Think of it as a breathing break in the midst of climbing to the summit.

The best time to start a Juice or Liquid Fast is when your body is asking you for it! Either we will be in alignment and know that it is right, or we will be spinning out of control, emotionally, physically, spiritually and suddenly something happens that points us in the direction of taking time to restore.  A good idea when fasting is to also align ourselves with the rhyhtms and cycles found in Nature.  Many civilizations prior to us, practiced fasting in alignment with the Full & New Moons, as well as, at the time of Seasonal Change.  The energy is different at these times, and the veils between the physical and the sacred become more palpable.  Aligning ourselves with these energies or change in the energies, with the intention of Alignment of Self has magical synergistic effects on every aspect of our being.

The meditation practice is a great support tool when Fasting because it allows us to be a 'witness' to ourselves and find more compassion and self-love in our process of letting go.  Meditation also restores our nervous system, something that the process of fasting and what we 'release' can sometimes challenge.  It provides the space for Sacredness and for the unseen to become seen.

As tomorrow's Full Moon approaches I invite you to dust-off your juicer and juice it up! I invite you to sit in meditation just for 5 minutes at the beginning or at the end of your day or both if you can!!! I invite you to participate in the 7th Annual "Winter Feast for the Soul", a free 40 day commitment to the personal practice of stillness.

It's been two years since I did my fist 40 day Juice Fast and the 'Winter Feast for the Soul'.  Since then I have found new depths in my meditation practice and the stillness within, in my awareness, in my understanding of energetics, in my relationship with food, with life, with love and with Spirit.

Juice it up and bring it on! Align yourself with the forces of the Universe and keep your heart open to receive the gifts!

My heart goes out to Boston, my thoughts and resilience are with Venezuela, my spirit gathers strength with Amnesty International for there is much to do in this world.

My heart goes out to Boston, to everyone who participated, from runners to supporters, from individuals to families... I think of you. The world thinks of you.

My thoughts and resilience are with Venezuela, where elections were held a few days ago and the layers of corruption have yet again taken over the process of democracy.

I am inspired by those who extend their hand in the midst of chaos, those who keep on advocating for a just world, where human rights are met for one and all. In the midst of it all, these stories rise to the top, and I thank you for being a ray of sunshine on dark days. We stand for those who may not have the opportunity or freedom to stand, we speak for those who may not have the opportunity or freedom to speak, we act for those we may not have the opportunity or freedom to act, for themselves, their children, their country.

There is a quote by the Dalai Lama the XIV that I would like to share with you...

“There is a saying in Tibetan, ‘Tragedy should be utilized as a source of strength.’ No matter what sort of difficulties, how painful experience is, if we lose our hope, that’s our real disaster.”

Hope carries us through. I believe Hope combined with Action has the power to change each and everyone of us, our immediate community and the world at large.

My spirit gathers strength with Amnesty International.. and that was really my blog today, but I just couldn't let the two previous events go unspoken. This is my second year participating in Amnesty International's Canadian Yoga Day. A day to raise funds for Women's Human Rights.

I am a strong advocate of human rights, where does this feeling or need to act come from? For me it comes from growing up in Caracas, Venezuela and, as a child and young adult, baring witness to one to many violations of human rights. It comes from my work as a photojournalist seeking justice in my heart, trying to raise awareness about current social-political situations and baring witness to the unthinkable. Today, as a mother of 3, having found some peace within myself with the fact that the I may not be able to bring justice to every situation I encounter, but I can focus on educating my children so that they can become shiny just beings with open hearts. I can take part in creating awareness in my own community, from human rights to the local food movement, I can participate in events like Yoga Day were my efforts have a direct influence on someone else's life for the better.

So come on out for Amnesty International Yoga Day Marathon !! Come for one class, stay for all!

If you are on lands far away, you can still help and participate... you can donate! you can create your own event! Ask your Yoga Studio to get involved! Spread the goods and make it a world wide event! Actually you can create any event you want as a fundraiser for Nasrin... go on... gather your hope along with your action.. its time! Post it... what event will you create? what event will you participate... anything from Potlucks to Yoga! keep it simple, the canvas is yours... It would be fun to see what you come up to.... take some pics and post them up.. lets see if we can go around the world with this one!

In Loving Memory of those who lead with a golden heart...

I had finally sat down after a long break away from the computer to write about Spring and about releasing the 'someting old' to invite something new.... when we heard the news.. news that make you stop in your tracks, feel a low thump on your heart, deeply appreciate every second that we have and begin to grasp at the fact that we don't have all the answers for the way things happen, that life is more complex and intricate and fragile (if I may) than we would like to think.

I know a lot of you who read this blog are part of our community and are already dealing with the news. On friday morning, the Dunsmuir family passed away in their house due to a fire. Details are not clear, but what is clear is the loss that we all feel.

In our community the Dunsmuirs were the golden heart that lead the way to heart felt interactions, that gave the community strength, courage, and compassion.  Mrs. Dunsmuir was the Director of the Queensville Montessori Academy up until 2010, where our kids attended school. A small school full of humanity, openness, universal thinking and awareness. It was an extention of home.  It was full of heart, love, integrity, respect and devotion.

I believe that as we interact with one another a small part of ourselves gets left behind, I see it as a gift, an inspiration, a blessing. Mrs. Dunsmuir's blessing that will always be a part of me was her golden heart, for when one leads life with a golden heart, there is a different resonance to one's actions, words, thoughts, there is a different quality to our life. She walked her talk with a smile.

I would like to honour and dedicate this meditation to the Dunsmuir family (parents, Kevin and Jennifer, teenage sons, Robert and Cameron.). To David, their other son who was away at University. and to the community at large.

When we meditate we align ourselves and connect with universal energy, we connect with the source, and we connect with our environment and the people that surround us. For all of you in our community, this meditation is for us to feel connected with the blessings they gave to us. For those of you who perhaps never met the Dunsmuirs, this meditation is for connecting with the blessings and inspirations others have left for you and for leading your life with a golden heart.

The Connection and Golden Heart Meditation

1. Close your eyes and sit in a comfortable position. Breathe, deeply, a few times.

2. Begin to feel your body relax and let go of the stresses it feels.
Focus on your head, and feel your head relax as you gently exhale.
Focus on your face, and feel you face relax as you gently exhale.
Focus on your neck, and feel your neck relax as you gently exhale.
Go through your whole body. Neck, shoulders, arms, hands. Chest, upper abdomen, lower abdomen, organs. Hips, legs, knees, ankles, feet.

3. Come back to your breath. Focus on your breath for 5 rounds of inhalation and exhalation.

4. As you inhale, visualize a beam of golden light entering your heart chakra. Feel its radiance, warmth and love. Feel it filling up your heart chakra (upper chest) with golden light. Continue to be aware of your breath as you feel the golden light begin to travel freely all over your body, bringing along with it radiance, warmth, love, support. Connect with the blessings and inspirations others have left for you. Feel the beauty of life, feel the grace of a helping hand, feel the warmth and the depth of your own heart. Feel this golden light bring in new, fresh, vital energy into your body. Begin to feel refreshed. Begin to feel the lightness of your body as if a huge weight has been lifted of your shoulders. Feel the lightness and love in your heart.

5. Now visualize the golden energy flowing from your heart into the hearts of those around you, into your environment, into loved ones far away and into strangers nearby. This golden energy expands from your heart outwards into the world. Take some time to experience this flow of energy.

6. Come back to your breath. Come back to feeling the golden energy in your heart chakra and filling your whole body with it. Feel the gratitude in your heart for the blessings and inspirations others have given us and for the time shared together. Allow this gratitude to carry your own golden heart into the world. Focus on the inhale and the exhale a few times and then softly open your eyes.

Recipe for something BLUE: Balance those free radicals with Blueberry power!

Yes indeed Happy Day after Valentines! May your heart continue to feel warmth everyday, and your life be surrounded by love, always.

So here is a recipe to nurture our bodies from the inside out and perhaps help our bodies deal with the extra sweets from yesterday! Something BLUE to start the day, full of antioxidants that help our bodies fight the free-radicals in our bodies.

Yes indeed BLUEBERRIES are in my mind today, they protect  the heart and the brain, they boost memory, they help fight aging, and disease causing free radicals.

What exactly are FREE RADICALS you ask? well well, they are single atoms or groups of atoms, with an odd number of electrons. They are unstable and they go about in the body stealing electrons from other cells to gain stability, creating new free radicals along the way. They are responsible for cell damage. They have the potential to cause DNA damage and organ damage. As well, free radicals damage produced by excess of free radicals is believed to be associated with cancer.

Now, our bodies produce free radicals as part of our metabolism process, to neutralize viruses and bacteria, but the numbers of free radicals produced in these cases are what our bodies can handle. They can be easily neutralized by a diet high in fruits and vegetables, specifically foods rich in ANTIOXIDANTS,  and lifestyle.

When we experience physical and emotional stress, when exposed to environmental pollution, radiation, industrial chemicals, cigarette smoke, herbicides (used in our food production), processed foods, consumption of drugs (recreational and prescription), the presence of free radicals in our bodies can become excessive which as you read, can lead to all kinds of trouble.

The solution is easy. Find ways to manage your stress (exercise, yoga & meditation are great options!) and eat a diet filled with foods that are rich in antioxidants, vitamin C and vitamin E... some examples are berries, grapes, broccoli, garlic, tomatoes, and green tea. Eating a diet high in fruits and vegetables, with a lot of raw power I might add, will take care of those free radicals dancing around in your body which will of course lead to more happy days ahead...

So roundabout we go to our friends the BLUEBERRIES...

RECIPE FOR SOMETHING BLUE: Balance those free radicals Blueberry Smoothie

1 1/2 cups of Hado water, spring water or good source water
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
2 bananas
2 TBSP raw almond butter
1 TSP raw honey
1 TBSP hemp seeds
1 TBSP Sea vegetable powder (spirulina, chorella, or any combination powder). IF you are new to them start them slow as they can be cleansing if you are not used to them. So start with 1 TSP and build your way up.

note_ I don't use frozen fruit in the winter, as the smoothie becomes to cooling for me, but in the summer I will even freeze bananas to add them to the smoothies!

Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend well, and shazam! you got your 'balance those free radicals power' ready to work for you!!!!! Sip slowly and enjoy!

Quote of the Day
"We've got this gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can't just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think it's going to get on by itself. You've got to keep watering it. You've got to really look after it and nurture it"- John Lennon

Happy Happy 1 year Anniversary!!! Time flyes when you are having fun!

Hello Happiness... how are you today?

Well, well I (the Rawllygood blog) turn one today!!!! yeepers! One year of writing with an open heart, often at times, brief at others, but one year has passed since I first made the commitment to my self to do the 40 day Juice Feast in conjunction with the 40 day meditation. And a lot has happened in a year!! One year of healing, exploring, learning, deep breathing, chellation, family times, seeing dear friends times, connecting with new like minded people, liver cleansing, yoga, back to the matt, back to the sun, back to me and sharing it back with you !

Well, Happy 1 year !

To celebrate this joyous wonderful day I would like to share a song by the Dave Mathews Band, that we at our house just love, yes the kids rock to it!! It inspires me to dream and do the things I do, to feel much gratitude for all that I/ we (humans) have dared to do, to feel gratitude for the opportunity to do more and to contribute and support this world to change, to be conscious of my actions and the effect and power they can have.... it's time for you and me and ours to use our potentials and to inspire the next generation to act! So here it goes, the song is GAUCHO.

"Gaucho"

With fire to keep us warm
and tools we made from rocks and bones
A roof over your head
and walls to keep you safe in bed
There must be more than this
So God was born
and we in his image of fear and love
looked down upon from up above

We gotta do much more than believe
if we really wanna change things
We gotta do much more than believe
if we wanna see the world change

We crossed the oceans wide
built cities to the sky oh Lord
Looked up and we were flying
but will we not survive ourselves

We gotta do much more than believe
if we wanna see the world change
We gotta do much more than believe
if we really wanna change things
We gotta do much more than believe
go on try it, go on try it
We gotta do much more than believe
if we wanna see the world change

What will I say to my baby
Let me show you a movie
we landed a man on the moon
Now you could never believe it
ya we could do anything
We flew to the stars and back
down to the ground hard

Please wake up
Please wake up
Please wake up

[Children singing]
We gotta do much more than believe
if we really wanna change things
We gotta do much more than believe
if we really wanna change things
We gotta do much more than believe
if we really wanna change things
We gotta do much more than believe
if we really wanna change things
We gotta do much more than believe
if we really wanna change things

[Children and Dave singing]
We gotta do much more than believe
go on try it, go on try it
We gotta do much more than believe
if we really wanna change things
We gotta do much more than believe
go on try it, go on try it
We gotta do much more than believe
if we wanna see the world change

Oh my little baby
let me show you this movie
You know we landed a man on the moon
I know it's hard to imagine
but we could do anything
under the stars.

Dear Diary: Have you heard the news.. I'm radioactive!

Dear Diary: Have you heard the news.. I got my results from my last chelation test a few days ago.. and

tadah! .. I'm radioactive!!! beauty isn't it?.. well, well.. I always knew I was special and had many talents.. but this one.. I had no idea of it's existence! I guess I still have many more talents to uncover.. which is always a delight, specially when it's a juicy one like this one. As it happens my levels of Cadmium, Cesium, Gadolinium, Lead, Nickel, and Thallium are way outside reference numbers.. specially the Thallium. The good thing is that the test measures what is coming out of your body. So I guess it's a good thing that all these are coming out of me. A few of them have gone down, like Mercury and a few others. As of this test Thallium is highest on the score sheet. Thallium.. mmhh.. where on earth did I pick that one up? I have been trying to figure it out.. haven't come to a conclusion yet.. but I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, Thallium is a toxic element and is radioactive. It was employed as a rodent killer- it is odourless and tasteless- but household use of this poison has been prohibited in most western countries.

MMhhhh. Well, well, well. As we may have come to know the Venezuelan standards are not currently up to date. Never mind 30 years ago. So who knows if Thallium was in household products to kill ants, cockroaches (sorry, don't want to gross you out- but they were part of my reality) , bugs and the sort of stuff that is common in third world countries. As a competitive swimmer I grew up between the waters of a high chemical swimming pool and the waters of a "only the fish know and don't want to tell" perhaps highly contaminated ocean...

As we (humans) become more aware of what we have done to ourselves and our environment, it is even more important to clean our act together, not only for ourselves but for the future of our children on this earth. It is our responsibility, no other, to be aware of what we put in our bodies, on our bodies and what into the world that sustains us.

As I left my Dr.'s office I felt anger and baaahhh and the feeling of not some more, please! But the feeling quickly changed into an empowerment of staying on the bright side of life and counting the many Blessings present in my life. It's definitely been a long journey to get to this point, but I am here, pain free, meds free, full of life and spirit to conquer it all one breathe at a time. So really, it is all good.

The way I see it, I am giving my body the best nutrition possible to flush the rest of the stuff out, at the same time planting new beautiful seeds of health in me to create a brave new vibrant healthy body. I have reconnected with my spirit and feel a deep joy and deep love for this life that I hadn't felt before.. so keep on truckin'.. keep on lovin'... keep on breathing... and keep on trying new things you have never tried before! Like Rambutan!

Delicious Rambutan is a beautiful tropical fruit found throughout Southeast Asia, Central and the north part of South America. In Central and South America it is known as "Mamon Chino" or simply "Mamon". I grew up eating tons of Mamones, but in Venezuela they are brown on the outside and not as spectacular as these ones!

Rambutan is a fruit rich in Vitamin C, it contains plant-based anti-oxidants known as flavonoids that are believed to reduce cholesterol and be anti-cancerous and anti-inflammatory. It contains potassium, iron, beta carotene or vitamin A, and a little Calcium, Magnesium zinc, sodium, niacin, fiber and protein. It has therapeutic properties and is used through out Southeast Asia to help kill intestinal parasites.

A quote made it's way to me the day of my Chelation test results.. it said: "In life there are only 3 choices: to give in, to give up, or to give it all you got."
You can guess which one I am choosing...

In the spirit of giving it all you've got, have a happy holiday season... my holiday wish for you is to honour where you come from, be opened minded about the different paths of those around you, show up to your life and live it like you mean it. Choose to manifest your wildest dreams, I can not guarantee you a smooth ride, but it will definitely be the ride of your life! May vibrant health, peace and joy find their way to your heart.

To me, it is simply an inspiration of nature's potentiality for beauty and the healing gentle powers of structured wildness if there is such a thing!. Look at it! Even better, eat it after you look at it. Savour its structured wildness yet gentle medicine.

Radioactively & Radiantly yours,
Naty

So how goes the goods? dusting off the seed of hope...

Almost there... day 19th out of 21... or perhaps you will be ready to keep the moments of stillness integrated into your life until the end of times...

How is your meditation practice going? Have you been able to find some quiet in midst of our very busy lives? Have you been able to tap into your own source of stillness, where all power, healing, and creation stem from?

Some days are easier than others, even within our meditation practice. Some days I seem to be instantly transported to that place, some days the chatter and the rest of my life seems to offer 'little (or BIG) roadblocks'.. but what can you do... accept accept accept... and keep on showing up...

One day perhaps we might stumble upon our own seed of hope. Hope most likely means something different to all of us, or perhaps it means something different on different days to each of us. To me, hope is the source of unlimited creative potential to be the best possible version of myself I can be to myself and to those around me. On some days, hope means being in radiant vibrant health, or my child's loving embrace at the end of the day. Tonight it means praying for world peace, a few nights ago it meant having peace at the dinner table. Hope is powerful, simple, profound. Hope can be as simple as wishing to create healthier habits in our lives.

Dusting off the seed of hope might just allow us to take action in our lives in the direction of our deepest of heart's desires. So I invite you, to take a breath, or two, and find your seed of hope. Embrace it and allow it to surprise your life with wonder and happiness.

If you have a meditation practice or have recently developed one, or you are still trying to find time, or a place, or the consistancy of showing up.... the fact that we commit to ourselves even just 5 minutes of our day to meditate and find our own seed of hope is a huge step of the process....

Embrace new rituals that bring you peace and witness the joy revolution!

So here is a little early holiday present from me to you...

HEALING ENERGY MEDITATION

Sit in lotus or in a comfortable position.

Close your eyes and take 5 deep breaths, make a letting go sound "aahhhh" as you exhale.

Now take a few more breaths quietly.

Go into the quiet place within you. Bring your awareness to your breath.

If at any point your inner chatter takes over, don't fight it, just keep on coming back to your breath.

Focus your attention on the top of your head.. your crown chakra.

Visualize a beam of healing cosmic golden energy come into your body through the crown chakra. Feel its warmth and radiance come into your body, visualize it coming into your body like water flowing on  a stream.

Cosmic golden energy flows into your whole body. Focus on the FEELING of flow of energy as you scan your body, feel the energy move within. Scan your body from top to bottom. Eventually you will feel energy flow into your head, face, neck, arms, chest..  follow its flow into your lower abdomen, hips, legs, knees, ankles, and feet.

Imagine and feel your whole body being filled with warmth as if a candle was lit within you, reaching to every nook, corner and cell of your body.

Stay in this space as long as you want to.

Slowly become aware of your breath.

Bring your right hand to your lower abdomen and your left hand to your heart. Breath deeply into your lower abdomen, feel the movement of your abdomen with your right hand. Feel your heart beat with your left hand. Express gratitude to yourself and to your life and heart's desires.

Slowly open your eyes and stretch your body.

Happy 100th post! and Join the free 21 day meditation guided by Deepak Chopra- Starts Nov. 5th.

Happy 100th post! Can you believe it and to celebrate it Deepak Chopra is hosting a free 21 day meditation journey!

Just kidding. Deepak Chopra is holding the free 21 day meditation journey, but it has nothing to do with this blog. I just like to celebrate the occasion of the 100th post with the sharing of the information about the meditation journey.

We have all heard of the wonderful effects that Meditation can have on our lives. We have all perhaps meditated for some time, only to be carried away from it by our daily lives, or perhaps we still show up day in and day out to witness our breath.

Some of the benefits of Meditation are:
"It reduces stress, it lowers blood pressure, it disciplines the mind, cultivates peace, purifies the mind, connects us at a deeper level with our intuition, it induces clarity of vision and thinking, it improves concentration and focus, it improves memory, it organizes our energy field". (Excerpt from the Conscious Living Manual by Shantree Kacera.)

So good, right? So climb aboard the journey to grounded and vibrant health, because really, we must be deeply grounded in earth to reach out for heaven.

Starting on November 5th, Deepak Chopra will be guiding a meditation journey for 21 days. It is a free event, but you must register. The three week process is guided towards a place of authentic abundance consciousness. In nature, it takes 21 days for a caterpillar to become a butterfly, it is a significant number of transformation. Opportunities like these, the gathering of large numbers of people doing something you inspire to do, or perhaps already do, are a great way to find strength in developing the meditation muscle, or perhaps in finding strength in sustaining the meditation practice you already have.

All though I have read several of his books, I have not done any of this workshops, so I will be listening to his guidance during the 21 days along with you. I'm curious, for my meditation practice is a quiet one, bringing my awareness back to the breath, focusing on my body experience. So it will be different for me to have someone guiding the process, but I am open to it's benefits and the growth the process can bring to my and your life.

If this is something that might interest you, sign up! you might be happily surprised. We'll be doing it together!

"Meditation is not a way of making your mind quiet. It is a way of entering into the quiet that is already there- buried under the 50,000 thoughts the average person thinks every day". - Deepak Chopra

In the cusp of change.. i got the 'pep' talk, and sat down to read my words...

A few days after I wrote my 'Open heart letter about Chellation Therapy', my husband sat me down for the familiar 'pep' talk... man ... I dislike 'pep' talks... necessary at times, I would have to agree, doesn't mean I have to like them... all though I know he is right...

Do you ever have a dream that you can almost taste? Do you ever have a vision of your future self with such clarity you just can't wait? It's just so exciting, so juicy, so fabulous! The time is now, right? But what if now is not quite ready. What if the healing journey needs a little more time, what if kids are still a bit too young, what if there is just too much going on for me to materialize what I see? then, for me, frustration sets in, then the famous 'pep' talk comes back, then I sit at the computer to read my own words to remind me that the right time will come and that really I am at the right place for myself right now. Yes, I am much better, and the vibrancy that I see in my dreams and visions will lead the way to the opening of my heart to guide your heart. The day that I see, will come and the 'pep' talk will transform itself.. (or so I wish :)).

In the meantime... an email from my dear friend and mentor, Caroline Dupont, and the synchronicity of what I had been thinking of sharing with you brings me to the power of herbs and elixirs to REMINERALIZE our bodies... yeap. There is a lot of Remineralization to be done, and many ways to go about it!

Elixirs and Tea Infusions are a fantastic way to gather the essence of the life force of herbs to remineralize ourselves. I have make them and use them as tea, as 'water' to be added to any raw soups, smoothies, elixirs! I sincerely have felt a difference since I started incorporating them into my daily routine. Now there are just so many herbs to use, and so many ways to use them... the key is to soak the herbs in boiled water overnight to "infuse" the water with their powers. The ratio of herbs to boiled water really depends on your body and constitution. For most people, a cup of dried herbs to 4 cups of water seem to be right. For me, well oh well, about a handful of dried herbs per 4 cups of hot water seems to be right. So play with it, and find your ratio and your healing balance.

Tea infusions are also a great way to get to know your herbs. To get you out there, where the wild things are and gather your own, dehydrate them or leave them to naturally dry. So get out there!

TEA INFUSION RECIPE:

1 cup of dried herbs (or a handful)
4 cups of hot water (boiled)
a 1 liter glass jar with a lid or a cheese cloth (Method #1)
or a glass pot with a lid (Method #2)

METHOD #1: place the herbs in the glass jar, pour the hot water, gently move the jar to submerge the dried herbs. If you can place the jar by the window to absorb the moon rays, place a quartz crystal beside it, and why not, use your HADO writing on the jar to maximize it's healing power... I am all about synergy. Dried blossoms are best when infused for a minimum of 2 hrs. Dried herbs are best when infused for a minimum of 4 hrs. Dried roots are best when infused for a minimum of 8 hrs. So to make life simple, make your mix, place it in the jar and let it infuse overnight :).

METHOD #2: place the barks/roots in a glass pot, along with the water and let it gently simmer covered for 20 minutes. Turn off the stove, then let the barks/roots infuse the water overnight. I use this method when I use barks for the infusions. The active ingredients in some of the barks seem to need a more active simmering to be released. (But that really depends on whose words you read.). So use whichever method resonates with you.

TEA INFUSION

Palo d'Arco (Taheebo tea)/ Cat's Claw/ Horsetail/ Goji berries/ Chaga/ Reishi mushroom

Some of you are familiar with them, some of you are reading these for the first time. Don't worry, they will soon be familiar words in your dictionary too. You are most likely to be able to find them all at your local health food store or online.

Palo d'Arco comes from the inner bark of the Taheebo tree in the South American rainforest. In some places it is known as Taheebo tea. It is known to have powerful antifungal properties and it strengthens the body's immune system. It is known to relieve infections, reduce inflammation, promote digestion, flush toxins from the body, and protects the body against cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure.

Cat's Claw (Una de Gato) is used traditionally in Peruvian medicine. It is a strong antiviral which works  in synergy with Palo d'Arco to boost the immune system. It is known to aid with digestive issues, and to have powerful anti cancerous and anti-tumor properties.

Horsetail is high in silica, which is vital to the health of hair, skin, and nails. It helps build calcium in the body.

Goji berries is a sweet dark colored fruit. It is a superfood known for its high antioxidant content and its longevity promoting properties, they are believed to protect the liver and the kidneys.

Chaga is a medicinal mushroom that grows in the birch trees in the forest. It is believed to be a strong immunity builder in the our body and to have strong anti-cancerous properties as well. ** If using method #2, add the Chaga after you have turned the stove off, to infuse the water overnight.

Reishi is another medicinal mushroom that builds the body's immunity, has anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties, is considered in chinese medicine to benefit the liver and heart organs. ** If using method #2, add the Chaga after you have turned the stove off, to infuse the water overnight.

I am currently using a 5 mushroom Blend from Wild Rose, that includes Red Reishi, Cordyceps Mycella, Maitake, Chaga, Coriolus. You can add it to your infusion or simply add the powder to your drink, smoothie, or soup.

So brew them up and drink it up! Make a tea using the above herbs and then use the tea infusion as your 'water base' in everything from a smoothie to a raw soup, to your drinking water for the day. Your body will thank you.

Rediscovering the wisdom in ancient traditions..

I have been on a quest rediscovering the wisdom in ancient traditions, trying to assist my body with as many non invasive tools as I can to make the healing journey a bit easier and a bit more supportive.

Two other tools in my healing toolbox are Tongue scrapping, Oil Pulling, and the Neti Pot. All come from the Ayurveda tradition. Ayurveda is the science of life and healing that developed in India. The term Ayurveda means "Knowledge of Life". Ayurveda itself is a complex system of wisdom and knowledge to guide us in maintaining or creating harmony and health in body, mind, emotions and spirit. Two powerful tools of detoxification and cleansing are Oil Pulling and the Neti Pot. If done on a consistent basis, they assist the body in getting rid of toxins before they accumulate and create too much trouble. They are easy to do, don't take too much time... well one of them does, but I think they are important part of a weekly, if possible, daily routine.

Tongue Scrapping

Tongue Scrapping is the process the build up of the layer of mucus and toxins that builds up overnight on our tongues with a tongue scrapper. It's pretty easy, takes a sec, and it does wonders for the body. It is also like a massage for the tongue. Our tongue is like a map of our bodies, different sections correspond to the different organs, so massaging our tongue, activates our different organs and clearing the toxic build up on our tongues, then clears inner toxicity as well.
Tongue scrappers are widely available at health food stores, they can be made of metal or plastic, your choice. Just make sure you give it a good rinse after you have used it.

Oil Pulling

Oil pulling is a very simple but powerful process that consists of swishing or pulling around Cold pressed oil ( Sesame or Sunflower oil- but I think sesame is best) in the mouth for about 15 to 20 minutes first thing in the morning, before brushing teeth, on an empty stomach. The process draws out toxins from the body without disturbing the healthy microflora. In this way it is possible to heal cells, tissue and all organs. The healing process may be fast for some or slower for others. As the oil is being swished and pulled by the tongue, between the teeth, the oil gets mixed with saliva and it activates teh enzymes in the mouth that draws toxins out of the blood. The oil must NOT be swallowed as it becomes toxic. As the process continues the oil changes colour from yellowish to white. It must be spit out, and the mouth must be fully washed and cleansed with water.

Oil pulling can be repeated up to three times a day, always on an empty stomach.

This ancient tradition does take a bit of time in the morning, but it's benefits are worth the time!

Neti Pot

The Neti Pot is used as a tool in Nasal Irrigation. It is also commonly used in the Ayurveda tradition, and it is commonly known of in the Yogic tradition. It is used to clear the Sinus passages and prevent the accumulation of mucus and toxicity in the Nasal cavity. It is quite simple and quick and it is a good tool to get you clearing and singing your Good Morning Sunshine tunes!
The process involved the use of a Neti pot. They are widely available at health food stores these days. Fill up the Neti Pot with warm water and a pinch of GROUND sea salt or pink himalayan salt (PLEASE DO NOT USE TABLE SALT). Place the Neti Pot on one nostril, close your throat, and insert the warm salty water into your nostril. (Please do so over the sink as it will come out the other nostril). Do so until about half the mixture has been used. Stop, clear your nose. Then repeat the process on the other side. It sound more complicated then what it really is.
It really freshens you up!

So there you go. Three new or perhaps not so new tools for your toolbox.

May the you sing your Good Morning Sunshine songs loud enough to make your neighbours dance! :)

New tools in my toolbox...

After many weeks of silence, 3 chelations, and many deep breaths, I am back! Armed with a new internet provider! (oh.... we are connected again!), handfuls of cilantro, sea vegetables in particular chlorella, my neti pot, my dry skin brush, Hado water, my yoga mat, meditation and visualization, and based on Ayurveda the six tastes.

In the weeks that have passed I have been reading and researching natural chelation agents to aid my journey. I think the more knowledge and resources we have the smoother and more supportive the journey will be.

So I have gathered a few new tools in my healing toolbox. I will be talking about them more in depth in the days/weeks to come....but for now here are two of my new and not so new tools:

Heaps and bounds of daily Cilantro (juiced, blended in smoothies, or as part of the meal).

Cilantro   is a natural cleanser of heavy metals and other toxic agents from the body. It is antimicrobial and anti- bacterial. It's oil has rich qualities that have a powerful effect on the digestive track, proving aid with the production of digestive enzymes, acids, and juices. For me its a super-herb!, and I intend to use it often over the next 15 weeks or so of my chellation therapy.

Chlorella TabletsSea Vegetables in particular Chlorella is known to bind to heavy metals, which aids in releasing them from the body through the urinary tract.  Chlorella is a green algae contains about 20 % protein and it is very high in chlorophyll, providing higher levels of Oxygen at a cellular level, it aids in cleansing and purifying the blood, regulating blood pressure, promotes the growth and repair of tissues, and it aids in digestion amongst other things.

Sea vegetables, in general, are:
High in mineral Content, specially, iodine, calcium, iron, magnesium.
High Protein Content, from 20% (green algae)  to 70% ( Spirulina).
Anti - bacterial, anti viral, anti inflamatory.
Great resource in fighting Candida.
Natural Iodine for keeping healthy thyroid function.

Warning: make sure you have a good source for your sea vegetables. Due to the high levels of toxicity found on the oceans, some sea vegetables now contain high levels of heavy metals themselves so it is really important to have a good and trusted source for them.
